The Llangollen War Memorial commemorates those men of the Llangollen and Llandysilio parishes who died during World War I and World War II. The memorial, a high standing carved Celtic Cross, stands in Castle Street, at its junction with Bridge Street, in the centre of the town.
The ancient town of Llangollen lies in a the valley of the River Dee in Denbighshire.
Llandysilio (or, in full, Llandysilio yn Iâl) is a small rural community in the mountainous area to the west of the town of Llangollen. It includes the site of Valle Crucis Abbey (Welsh: Abaty Glyn y Groes) and the Horseshoe Pass (Welsh: Bwlch yr Oernant). It also includes the villages of Pentredwr, Rhewl and Llandynan.
Originally in the historic county of Denbighshire, between 1974 and 1996 the area was part of the county of Clwyd.
