To help you with your research, the Clwyd FHS Bookstall sells a wide range of historic local maps from The Godfrey Edition series.

These 1 inch to the mile maps give a broad view of a wider area. They show railways, roads, canals, etc.

The Bookstall is open at all Clwyd FHS meetings but the books can also be ordered by post.

This Inch to the Mile map covers much of central Flintshire, with the Clwydian Range of hills to the west, and Deeside and the SW part of the Wirral to the north east. Coverage stretches from Ruthin in the SW corner eastward to Pulford and Saltney and northward to Flint, and to Burton in Cheshire. Part of Denbighshire is at the west of the map. On the back is a detailed map of Great Saughall, an extract from Cheshire Sheet 38.01.

This One Inch to the Mile map covers much of north Denbighshire, including Denbigh itself, with a small section of Flintshire in the NE corner. Coverage stretches from the hills of Moel Gyffylog, Mwdwl Eithin, Moel Seisiog and Cefn Rhydd eastward to Bodfari, and from St. Asaph southward to Gyffylliog and Moel Llyn. Much of the south and west of the map is of the Denbigh Uplands, with the more populated area north and east, including the two towns on the map, Denbigh and St. Asaph. On the reverse we include an extract from Denbighshire Sheet 7.11, showing Llanfair Talhaearn in 1910 in some detail.

This Inch to the Mile map covers the southern area of Cheshire, and also includes portions of Shropshire, Denbighshire and much of detached Flintshire. Coverage stretches from Holt and Farndon, in the NW corner, eastward to Nantwich and Audlem, and southward to Tilstock. On the reverse is a large scale map of Holt, defined as a town by the OS, and Farndon on the other side of the Dee.
